For your convenience, pet owners are able to leave their pets with us for a few hours or most of the day to complete procedures and services. During these visits, patients are checked in as normal and housed in our kennel area where the veterinary team can address needed services throughout the day. While drop-offs are required for surgical procedures, dental cleanings, and some other procedures, pet owners are also welcome to request drop off services for other conditions such as exams to check their ears or skin. We have blankets and towels to keep them comfortable and will provide food and water where necessary.
Similar to our surgical requirements, pets dropped off for other services are required to meet the following parameters:
Dogs
-
Up to date on the following vaccinations* - rabies, DAPP (distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza), leptospirosis (4 serovar), bordetella, and bivalent influenza
-
Current on heartworm prevention**
-
Free from internal and external parasites***
Cats
-
Up to date on the following vaccinations* - rabies, FVRCPC (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia, chlamydia), feline leukemia
-
Free from internal and external parasites***
Owners dropping off their pets for veterinary services will complete a drop-off form. The drop-off form (found here) requests contact information for the individual with whom we will speak to regarding the patient, services, and costs; describes all the requirements and specifications for pets dropped off for services; and allows pet owners to request additional services.
A drop off deposit of no less than $125 will be collected for patients dropping off - this will cover the exam fee and nursing care for their visit and will go towards their final total when they are picked up.
Dogs and cats that potentially have communicable conditions are not eligible for drop-off. Pets showing symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, coughing (not associated with diagnosed heart conditions or collapsing trachea), or sneezing will need to remain in restricted areas of the facility and may not remain for extended durations to avoid potential spread of contagions.
* Vaccination status must be verified from records obtained by a veterinary facility or practice. Vaccinations given by breeders or at home will not qualify a pet for drop-off services. "Up to date" means the patient has received a complete protocol of initial vaccines - as designated by standard practices recommended by AAHA and established by vaccine manufacturers - and maintained annually or triennially as designated by the vaccine manufacturer. For pets dropping off where vaccination is not up to date, vaccines will be administered at the owner's expense. A waiver must be signed acknowledging that vaccination does not provide immediate protection and their pet is still at risk of potentially contracting or spreading illnesses.
** For dogs not on current heartworm prevention, a heartworm test must be performed at owner's expense.
***If pets are found to have parasites during their stay, they will receive treatment at the owner's cost. External parasites visualized during a patient's stay (such as fleas or ticks) will be treated as recommended by the veterinarian. Patients not currently on routine intestinal parasite control will be required to have a fecal test run at the owner's cost to ensure they are free of parasites.
