There are a number of medications that may be recommended for our patients. In accordance with state and federal requirements, prescriptions may only be approved for patients when an appropriate veterinary-client-patient relationship has been established and the veterinarian has sufficient knowledge of the patient's condition as established by performing a complete physical exam. For well pets, exams may only be required every 12 months; however, many chronic medications require exams to be performed every 3-6 months and may require additional bloodwork to ensure the prescription is still appropriate for the pet.
We have a stocked in-house pharmacy to provide for most of our patients most immediate needs whether your pet needs their routine parasite prevention (heartworm disease prevention, intestinal parasite control, flea control, tick control) or medications, supplements, or therapeutic foods to address particular issues. Chronic or recurrent prescription needs can be requested directly from us through our VitusVet prescription request form.
For more convenience, we work with an online pharmacy, MyVetStoreOnline, that makes it convenient to order your pet's chronic medications, preventative medications, supplements, therapeutic foods, and more. With the online pharmacy, you can shop from home, request prescription refills, and have them shipped directly to your home. Single dosing is available for monthly parasite preventatives so even growing puppies and kittens who need frequent dosing changes can get what they need. Autoship options make it easy to spend less and never miss a dose.
Therapeutic foods are necessary for many of our patients to manage their health with both chronic and short term needs. Both Hill's and Purina have home delivery options available so your pet's therapeutic food can be shipped directly to you. Autoship is available making it easy to set up a schedule so you never run out. Their ordering websites can be found at the following links:
